Role Overview
BDR is seeking a Clinical Informaticist to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) in implementing a health data fabric that standardizes data into FHIR-based resources. This data fabric will serve multiple downstream consumers, including mobile applications and AI/LLM technologies. The Clinical Informaticist will play a pivotal role in translating clinical requirements into technical specifications, mapping clinical workflows, and supporting the development of digitized clinical practice guidelines, Clinical Quality Language (CQL), digital quality measures, and ensuring that the data fabric meets clinical needs. This position is 100% remote with availability during EST business hours. This position requires US Citizenship with a Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain one.(Military Veterans are highly encouraged to apply)Primary Responsibilities• Collaborate with clinical and technical teams to translate clinical requirements into FHIR-based data structures within the health data fabric.• Lead efforts to map clinical workflows and data requirements to ensure seamless integration of clinical data from multiple systems.• Manage the development and implementation of digitized clinical practice guidelines, Clinical Quality Language (CQL), and digital quality measures to enhance clinical decision-making processes.• Ensure that the health data fabric is designed and maintained to provide accurate, relevant, and timely data to downstream consumers, including mobile applications and AI/LLM technologies.• Work closely with stakeholders, including clinicians and IT professionals, to ensure that the data fabric supports clinical workflows and improves patient outcomes.• Conduct quality assurance on data outputs to ensure they meet clinical and regulatory standards.• Provide expertise in clinical terminologies, such as LOINC and SNOMED, to ensure that data is standardized and meaningful for clinical use.• Assist in the training and education of end-users on the effective use of the health data fabric for clinical decision support.Required Minimum Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Informatics, Nursing, Medicine, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.• 5+ years of experience in clinical informatics, with a focus on data integration and workflow mapping in healthcare settings.• Strong knowledge of FHIR standards and experience in implementing FHIR-based data solutions.• Familiarity with clinical practice guidelines, CQL, and digital quality measures.• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clinicians, IT staff, and other stakeholders.• U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.Desired Skills And Qualifications• Advanced degree (Master's or Doctorate) in a clinical discipline, biomedical informatics, or related field.• Experience working with the Defense Health Agency (DHA) or other federal healthcare organizations.• Proficiency in clinical terminologies such as LOINC, SNOMED, ICD-10, and their application in clinical data integration.• Familiarity with data management best practices, including data governance and quality assurance in a clinical context.• Experience in training and supporting clinical staff in the use of health IT systems.• Direct experience with MHS GENESIS and other legacy DHA datasets is preferred, including an understanding of its data models and clinical applications.Additional InformationApplicants must be U.S. Citizens.
